Salt Ashes approached us seeking a music video for her up-coming single 'Stains'. To develop a concept for the video, our first steps were delving into the story behind the song. With an initial idea to use water in connection with the lyrics ‘wash the stains away’, Salt Ashes speaks to her inner child, willing her to cleanse the pain from the past. We brainstormed how we could use water in different ways from dynamic action shots of rainfall, to still and serene reflections, or even dramatic visuals of floating or falling by being fully submerged.
We created a moodboard full of set, movement, lighting, and styling inspiration, and developed a storyboard that allowed us to fully flesh out 3 vignettes/scenes: The Hope, The Void, The Cleansing - each with their own individual style and feel, whilst overall remaining cohesive and driven by the same narrative.
